BioRePeel, PRX Plus, Microneedling or a Chemical Peel: Which Treatment Does Your Skin Actually Need?
If you've ever searched for a skincare treatment online, you've probably been overwhelmed by the options.
BioRePeel. PRX Plus. Microneedling. Chemical peels. Exosomes. Copper peptides. The latest treatment everyone is suddenly talking about on social media.
But here's something I wish more people understood:
The best skincare treatment isn't necessarily the newest, strongest or most expensive one. It's the one that's appropriate for YOUR skin.
After more than a decade of working hands-on with skin, I've learned that two people can walk into my treatment room with what appears to be the same concern and need completely different approaches.
That's why I don't believe in cookie-cutter skincare.
Start With the Skin, Not the Treatment
It's easy to see a treatment on Instagram or TikTok and think, I need that.
Maybe you saw someone's incredible results from microneedling. Maybe everyone is suddenly talking about BioRePeel. Or perhaps you've heard about PRX Plus and love the idea of rejuvenating your skin without needles or significant downtime.
These can all be excellent treatments.
But before deciding what treatment to do, we need to understand what your skin actually needs.
I look at factors such as your current skin condition, sensitivity, hydration, skin barrier, pigmentation, texture, lifestyle, sun exposure, previous treatments and, most importantly, what you're hoping to improve.
Sometimes the treatment you walked in asking for is exactly what I would recommend.
And sometimes it isn't.
When Might I Recommend BioRePeel?
BioRePeel is one of the newest treatments I've added to my Orange City skincare studio.
It provides professional exfoliation and skin rejuvenation with little to no visible peeling or downtime.
I may consider BioRePeel when we're working on concerns such as:
Dull or tired-looking skin
Uneven texture
Congestion
The appearance of enlarged pores
Uneven skin tone and pigmentation
Fine lines
Overall skin brightness and radiance
It's also an appealing option for clients who want professional resurfacing but don't necessarily want the visible peeling associated with some traditional chemical peels.
When Might Microneedling Be the Better Choice?
I've worked with microneedling for more than a decade, and it remains one of my favorite treatments because of its versatility.
Rather than exfoliating the surface of the skin like a peel, microneedling creates controlled microchannels that stimulate the skin's natural repair response and support collagen production.
I may recommend microneedling when the primary goal is improving the appearance of:
Acne scarring
Fine lines and wrinkles
Uneven texture
Enlarged pores
Certain types of pigmentation
Overall skin quality and firmness
I also customize my microneedling treatments with professional serums and ingredients such as GHK-Cu copper peptides or PDRN, depending on the treatment and the client's individual skin goals.
For someone who needs collagen remodeling rather than primarily surface exfoliation, microneedling may make more sense than a peel.
What About PRX Plus?
PRX Plus occupies a different place in my treatment menu.
It's a needle-free biostimulating treatment designed for clients who want to improve the appearance and quality of their skin without traditional injections or significant downtime.
PRX Plus may be an option when we're focusing more heavily on:
Skin rejuvenation
Firmness
Fine lines
Uneven tone
Overall skin quality
Areas such as the face and neck
One of the reasons I like offering PRX Plus alongside BioRePeel is that they aren't simply two versions of the same treatment.
BioRePeel focuses more on exfoliation, resurfacing, texture and brightness, while PRX Plus is selected when biostimulation and rejuvenation are greater priorities.
The question isn't which treatment is “better.”
It's which one better matches the goal we're trying to achieve.
When Is a Traditional Chemical Peel Still the Right Choice?
With newer treatments constantly entering the skincare world, it's easy to assume newer automatically means better.
It doesn't.
Traditional professional chemical peels remain extremely valuable treatments.
Depending on the type and strength of peel, they can be particularly helpful when we're addressing concerns such as acne, pigmentation, sun damage, uneven tone and texture.
Some peels involve more visible peeling and downtime than BioRePeel, but there are situations where that more intensive resurfacing is exactly what I want from the treatment.
Again, it's about choosing the appropriate tool for the job.
Sometimes the Best Treatment Is No Advanced Treatment—Yet
This might be one of the most important things I tell clients.
If your skin barrier is compromised, irritated, dehydrated or inflamed, immediately jumping into an aggressive treatment may not be the best decision.
Sometimes we need to get the skin healthier first.
That may mean simplifying your home routine, reducing excessive active ingredients, improving hydration and barrier support, or choosing a gentle facial before moving into more advanced treatments.
Healthy skin responds better to treatment.
I'm much more interested in your long-term skin health than performing a treatment simply because it's what you originally booked.
More Treatments Doesn't Mean You Need More Treatments
I offer different advanced skincare treatments because different skin needs different solutions—not because every client needs to try everything on my menu.
Your treatment plan might involve alternating different modalities over time.
Or we may find something your skin responds beautifully to and stay with it.
You also don't need a complicated 12-step home skincare routine or a cabinet full of expensive products to have beautiful skin.
Consistency, appropriate products and a thoughtful treatment plan usually matter far more than chasing every new skincare trend.
Experience Matters When Choosing Advanced Skincare
Technology and products are important, but the person evaluating your skin and deciding how to use them matters too.
My approach to skincare comes from advanced skincare education, ongoing research and more than a decade of hands-on experience working directly with clients and their skin.
I don't add a treatment simply because it's trending.
I want to understand what it does, where it belongs in a treatment plan and who is—and isn't—a good candidate for it.
That's also why I believe professional skincare should be personalized.
You shouldn't receive the exact same facial or advanced treatment simply because that's what the person before you received.
Which Treatment Is Right for You?
If you're comparing BioRePeel, PRX Plus, microneedling or chemical peels, don't feel like you need to figure it out yourself before booking.
That's my job.
Tell me what bothers you about your skin. Tell me what you'd like to improve. Tell me how much downtime you're comfortable with and what your lifestyle looks like.
Then we can determine the approach that makes the most sense for you.
Because great skincare isn't about chasing treatments.
It's about having a plan.
